Country singer Chris Young is home in Nashville after being hospitalized in Denver with a dangerous bacterial infection resulting from a cut on his leg.
Young was en route to a tour date in Montana on Aug. 13 when he began to go into septic shock. He was taken by ambulance to Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver, where he was treated by doctors Anthony Canfield, Wendy Gill and Janet Suarez, who administered medications to stop the infection from spreading and removed the infection in emergency surgery after midnight on Aug. 14.
Young, now under his own physician's care, is expected to make a full recovery. He'll resume performing on Thursday in Mountain View, Calif., on Brad Paisley's Beat This Summer Tour. His Redding, Calif., show, originally slated for Wednesday, will be rescheduled to Sept. 8.
"I want to thank all of my fans for their thoughts and prayers," Young said in a statement. "I received amazing care from Dr. Suarez, Dr. Gill and Dr. Canfield and all the ICU nurses who literally saved my life. I'm happy to be home and can't wait to get back out on the road."
