HUGHESVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Charles County Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for three people who broke into a home in Hughesville early Wednesday morning and demanded money.

According to spokesperson Diane Richardson, two adults and their 5 year-old child were inside when three people kicked in the door to a home in the 7400 block of Leonardtown Road at approximately 4:45 a.m. Richardson says the three demanded money at gunpoint before fleeing in a white SUV.

The victims called 9-1-1 and provided a description of the suspect vehicle, according to Richardson. Officers tried to make a traffic stop but after the SUV driver initially pulled over he fled as an officer approached. Officers pursued the SUV to the area of Mt. Rainier in Prince George's County where they lost sight of it, according to Richardson.

The sheriff's office is pursuing leads, but Richardson says the victims appear to have been specifically targeted for the crime.

No one was injured, says Richardson.
