Gas Leak At New Dept. Of Homeland Security Complex Site

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- An 8-inch gas line ruptured and two construction workers were evaluated at the construction site for the new Department of Homeland Security complex on Thursday morning.

Battalion Chief Brian Lee told 9News Now that DC Fire and EMS got the call at 10:10 a.m. for a gas line rupture at 2701 Martin Luther King Avenue SE.

One hundred and 50 people were evacuated from six buildings as a precaution. 

Washington Gas is on the scene and DC Fire is currently providing protection to the Washington Gas crews so that they can work on capping the leak.
