WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA)-- As consumers head out to support local shops on "Small Business Saturday," smaller D.C. area stores are feeling the love.
Event the president and his two daughters Sasha, and Malia participated in the new shopping trend the day after "Black Friday". The first family stopped by One More Page Books in Arlington on Saturday for some shopping.
Over in the Barracks Row neighborhood of D.C, Homebody store co-owner Erin Mara reminded us why a day dedicated to supporting small local stores is so important to her.
Mara said, "Spending money in a community small business often means that money is going to stay in that community."
Next big shopping day...Cyber Monday.
