WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Five Washington teachers were selected from among a pool of 300 applicants to participate in the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Summer Teacher Institute.

Each year, the Library of Congress meticulously chooses a group of K-12 educators to attend one of its seven teacher institutes in Washington, D.C.

During the five day program, July 9-13, participants will develop primary-source based teaching strategies that they can take back to their school districts, apply in the classroom and pass along to colleagues.

This year Susan Coti and Angelo Parodi of John Eaton Elementary School, Denise Dumas of Cardozo High School, Patricia Harmon of Annunciation Catholic School and Sonall Kumar of the Washington International School were chosen to attend.
