WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- A year has passed since D.C. lost the musical legend Chuck Brown. The Godfather of Go-Go died at age 75. Thursday night there's a special tribute concert in his memory. The tribute concert takes place at the Howard Theatre. Doors open at 10 p.m. and the music starts at 10:30 p.m.

Attached to this story are photos from the public viewing of Brown that took place last year after the legend had passed away.  Below is the story from that day:

Locals raised on the tunes of Chuck Brown flocked to the historic Howard Theatre Tuesday morning for a public viewing of the late, great musical icon.

Fans of Brown braved the heat and crammed into a windy line to say one final goodbye to the man after he passed away on May 16.

And yet, while the event could have been a sad sendoff to D.C.'s own "Godfather of Go-Go", the mood outside the theatre prior felt far more positive---like a fond farewell to an old friend, a celebration and tribute of the legend's life.

People carried old records, donned shirts and pins with Brown's image, and some even did a little dancing, as they prepared to bid adieu to the man who created the soundtrack of their youth.

Take a look at these photos from the event.
