WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- This week we're highlighting National Teen Safe Drivers Week. Someone is doing something a little different to create road safety awareness.

Snap 2 Live is a fashion belt created by philanthropist Ernesto Arguello.  The vintage accessory was a huge hit at a recent youth leadership conference in the District.

"What a better place to launch it and introduce than with you guys, all the leaders in different communities, and with the goal of making this world a better place," said Arguello.

He added, "By just wearing the belt you're becoming a spokesperson. People are going to ask you, it's eye-catching, it's a very engaging accessory."

"It's a great idea, and it's showing to teenagers that we are in this world and this is a problem. Buckle our seatbelts and we can live," said FCCLA National President and Deep Run H.S. senior Brian Will.

Drivers and passengers who buckle up are 50 percent more likely to survive  a car accident.

The belt is $30 and 70% of the profits go to charities such as road safety efforts by IDB and the Decade of Action for Road Safety.  It's available at snap2live.com. The belt is unisex and comes in many different colors.

Ernesto Arguello has also put a pledge on the box along with five safe driving tips.
