ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WUSA) -- Annapolis Police have shot and killed a man who they say is responsible for a deadly domestic assault.
According to a release from Annapolis Police, officers were sent to the 1900 block of Copeland Street around 12:21 Tuesday morning after receiving a report of a man assaulting a woman. Once the officers arrived at the scene they found the victim lying in a parking lot suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Police confronted the assailant when he threatened the injured victim and responding officers. He was ultimately shot and killed by police.
The female victim was taken to the Anne Arundel Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
So far police have not released the identities of the victim or the suspect.
Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop, along with Mayor Joshua Cohen, will hold a press conference at police headquarters later this morning. The investigation is ongoing.
