WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Friday, Washington D.C.'s largest community of cyclists will celebrate its one year anniversary with a birthday party themed ride.
DC Bike Party is a 600-member group that explores the nation's capital by taking monthly rides through the city on their bikes. Its anniversary party will include a ride where participants are encouraged to deck out their bikes with streamers, bright colors, and balloons.
The group will begin in DuPont Circle and set out for an 8-mile ride, visiting some of D.C.'s major landmarks with a pit stop in-between where the group will be greeted by a live band. The ride will end with a celebration at Mellow Mushroom in Adams Morgan. There will be a live DJ all night and the bar will offer happy hour specials all night for the DC Bike Party participants.
A map of the complete route will be available at DCBikeParty.com the day before the event. Riders are welcome to join or depart from the group at any point and use Capital Bikeshare.
