UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police are going to canvass the Marlton area of Upper Marlboro after a 7-year-old girl was raped on Saturday. Police say they will patrol twice every day this week.

Police say a man with a gun took a 7-year-old girl, who lives in the area, into the woods and raped her Saturday afternoon.

On Tuesday night, Prince George's County Law Enforcement Explorers, a youth group, passed out fliers at a nearby shopping center, while Prince George's County detectives confirm they've been checking out several tips from Crime Solvers. They're hoping a digital sign in the neighborhood with Crime Solvers' phone number will lead to more tips.

Detectives are following up on leads to try to identify the man. The man is described as an older white male with a heavy build. He is bald with a goatee-style gray beard. Police ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information on this case to call them at 301-772-4908.

Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or text "PGPD" plus your message to CRIMES (274637) on your cell phone. You can also submit a tip at http://www.pgpolice.org. Crime Solvers is offering $25,000 for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment in this case.
