FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WUSA) -- Some young friends participating in their annual post-Thanksgiving campout had their event ruined by weapon-wielding robbers say Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office authorities.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. deputies responded to the 10300 block of Campbell Drive for a report of a robbery.  Ten people had been camping about half a mile into the woods off of Campbell Drive, an area is known to the neighborhood and commonly used for camping.

The victims, who were between 16 years old and 21 years old, told police they were sitting around a campfire when they saw five people approach with weapons. The robbers demanded wallets, cash and cell phones.

The victims say some of them were punched or kicked but no one required medical treatment.

The robbers fled with cash, say authorities.

Detectives are trying to identify the identities of the robbers. If you have information, then please call the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office at 540.582.7115 or Crime Solvers at 1-800-928-5822 or 1-540-582-5822.
