BOSTON (AP) - A U.S. woman whose ex-husband doused her with industrial-strength lye and disfigured her face has revealed her new face after a transplant.

Carmen Blandin Tarleton spoke at a news conference Wednesday.

The 44-year-old mother of two says she's in a better place than she could have imagined after the attack in 2007. She says she's telling her story so others can find strength to escape their own pain.

Miranda Righter, whose mother's face was used for the donation, told Tarleton she looked beautiful. She says she's overjoyed that she can see her mother's skin and freckles again.

A hospital in Vermont says more than 30 surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses worked for more than 15 hours to replace Tarleton's skin, muscles, tendons and nerves.
