ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA9) -- Bruce Allen sat down with WUSA9 Sports Anchor Dave Owens Friday to discuss a variety of topics. First and foremost, the final few weeks of a disappointing 2013 campaign.
"The most difficult thing about this season was not just 3-13, but they way it unfolded," said Allen. "The most distasteful thing about all the distractions was that they were self-inflicted."
Allen of course was referencing the myriad of rumors and leaked stories that seem to spill out of Redskins Park during the final month of Mike Shanahan's regime. "I'm trying to fix that," said Allen.
As for the current coaching search, Allen says he's not going to mention names out of respect for the coaches and the organizations for which they're currently working.
"Our coaching search is ongoing but league rules prohibit us from offering a job to someone whose team is still playing," said Allen. "We have identified a group of coaches who we want to pursue."
Allen reiterated that the team had not contacted former Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher about the team's head coaching position, and Cowher himself told CBS This Morning that he plans to continue working on television for the foreseeable future.
"I've never closed the door," Cowher said. "But it's highly unlikely any time in the near future you'll see me coach."
Allen confirmed to 9-Sports that Dallas Special Teams Coach Rich Bisaccia visited Redskins Park on Friday. Bisaccia has served as special teams coach in Dallas, San Diego, and also worked with Allen in Tampa Bay.
