WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The Redskins take the field Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, for their second preseason game. Exactly three weeks from tonight, Monday Night Football will reconvene at Fed Ex Field for the Redskins first regular season game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Will quarterback Robert Griffin III be on the field for week one? That's been the biggest question in the NFL all offseason long. Griffin donned a t-shirt with the phrase 'Operation Patience' showing his trust in the coaching staff's decision.

1st Quarter

On their first possession the Steelers benefited on a London Fletcher personal foul penalty, but were stalled after the chains moved. Fletcher redeemed himself on a third down, tackling Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for a loss on third down.

The Redskins moved the chains on their first play of scrimmage, when Kirk Cousins found Leonard Hankerson for a 16-yard gain. But the Redskins punted three plays later.

The fireworks exploded in the middle of the first quarter. Ryan Kerrigan intercepted Roethlisberger and took it back 22-yards for the touchdown. The Redskins took the lead 7-0.

2nd Quarter

The Steelers added a field goal to make the score 7-3. But the big news out of this quarter was an injury. Kirk Cousins went to the turf and left the game with what looked like a right foot injury. Dr. James Andrews is on the sidelines. We will update you as soon as we have more information.

Rex Grossman entered the game for Cousins, and didn't miss a beat. The 11-year veteran connected with Leonard Hankerson for a 10-yard touchdown late in the second quarter, putting the Redskins up 14-3. Grossman is battling for his roster spot with fourth string quarterback Pat White.

The Redskins added a field goal right before the half to take a 17-6 lead at halftime.

UPDATE: Kirk Cousins is out with a right foot sprain. No timetable on how long he will be out.

3rd Quarter

A quiet period on the scoreboard. The Redskins and Steelers with three series each. Two of the Redskins drives ended in a punt; on the third, Rex Grossman's deep throw for Jordan Reed got picked off by Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith.

As for the Steelers, their first two drives ended with punts too. However, on the last possession of the quarter, the Black and Gold pushed the ball down the Redskins 10-yard line...

4th Quarter

...and on the first play of the last quarter, Landry Jones connected with Derek Moye for Pittsburgh first touchdown of the game and bringing the Steelers within six of the Redskins.
