STERLING, Va. (WUSA) -- Outside of Brian Orakpo, Redskins cornerback Josh Wilson was the star of yesterday's Leukemia Golf Classic.

Wilson was in charge of the putting contest right near the clubhouse and was full of jokes. "I'm here all day," he goofed at one point. The Washington Post has those details

I caught up with Wilson in between his duties as putting contest czar to chat about his pay cut, Super Bowl or bust, and being an NFC contender.

WUSA9: Does your offseason approach change after winning the NFC East?

Josh Wilson: No not at all. A lot of the people that came to this team, like myself, we've been to the playoffs before. We understand you have to have the same mindset, same work ethic. It's going to take the same hard work to get back there. We exited it a lot earlier than we wanted to be. Our goal was to get to the Super Bowl. We didn't get there. So we have a long way to go.

WUSA9: The Seahawks added Percy Harvin. The 49ers added Anquan Boldan. Do you pay attention to offseason moves that other contenders make?

Josh Wilson: In the offseason you don't win Super Bowls. You've got to be able to go out there and perform. It's not about who builds the "dream team," its about who performs.

WUSA9: All of a sudden, it's gotten awfully crowded at the cornerback position. How does that change your approach as training camp looms?

Josh Wilson: We brought players in there that can come in and help us. Last year we had a lot of situations where we had people who had never stepped on the field. They probably weren't the most talented people to come into the nickel and dime situations. This year we were able to bring some guys in to support us. It's not about stepping up -- it's about continuing to progress.

WUSA9: The Nationals slogan this season was 'World Series or bust.' Are the Redskins going to be adopting a similar approach?

Josh Wilson: Nah, we're just going out there trying to do the best that we can. At the end of the day, as long as every man goes out there and takes his talents to the limit, we'll see where we can go from there.

WUSA9: You admiarably chose to take a pay cut recently (details here). Why did you make that choice?

Josh Wilson: This is a great place to play. I knew given the [salary cap] situation we are unfortunately in, it wasn't something that was normal. I had to look at that and see what was best for the team and get us to the next level. Not just being happy at making the playoffs, but trying to make a run for the championship.
