Washington Nationals Edge St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 With Jayson Werth's Walk-off homer

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Adam LaRoche broke a 79-year scoreless streak in DC post-season baseball with his solo home run in the bottom of the second inning on Thursday. 

But, Jayson Werth made real history when he jacked out a solo-homer in the 9th inning, for the Washington Nationals walk-off win 2-1, over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ryan Zimmerman hit a one-out single in the bottom of the 4th inning, but he was stranded at first after LaRoche and Morse we retired easily. 

The St. Louis Cardinals tied the game in the second inning, with a sacrifice fly hit by Carlos Beltran. 

The Washington Nationals took a 1-0 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals withe LaRoche's center field bomb. 

The Nats failed to score any more runs in the inning, after LaRoche's lead-off homer. 

The game was tied until the 9th, when Werth cracked it out of the park on the 12th pitch of the at-bat. 

Gio Gonzalez takes the mound Friday night for the Nationals at 8:37 p.m. on TBS.
