WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Almost 26 million people in the United States have diabetes. It's a disease that affects the whole family, especially when a child is diagnosed.
Eight-year-old Katrina Merva was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when she was 2. Today Katrina is an active third grader who despite the difficulties of this serious disease, is a true role model and says "power through it, and be strong."
Andrea, Jessica and Monika, who all have diabetes in their families, will be emceeing the "Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes" on Saturday, October 20th at the National Harbor.
