WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Are you debating whether to pull on the sweats for an early morning workout?

I am in WEEK THREE of my Couch to 5K and faced a couple of challenges this week. I was supposed to run on Tuesday. Rain was an obstacle.

In terms of my personal "eat healthy goals" -- I had a couple of other challenges. But I didn't let my challenges get in my way.

Here's what Week Three looks like in my Couch To 5K program:

  • 5 minute warm up
  • Two rounds of jogging 2 minutes, walking 2 minutes
  • Then jog for 3 minutes and walk 2 minutes
But I found making excuses was a big deal for me this week. It's raining so I'll just push my run to another day. That cake looks good. I'll just run a little longer, maybe.

If you find yourself making excuses to avoid your morning workout, I have some tips. Morning workout people. It's darker out. We get it. But don't hit the snooze button. Put your clock on the other side of the room.

Don't allow yourself to think your morning workout is optional -- a choice you can make.
Is it a choice to go to work this morning?

Finally, sleep in your workout clothes. It will save you time and that makes it harder to NOT follow through on your plan.
