ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA) -- An attempt by several recent Wakefield High School graduates to break into their alma mater was interrupted by school security early Friday morning.
Dustin Sternbeck, spokesman for the Arlington County Police Department, says 8 students who graduated only yesterday were discovered by security on the roof of the school in the 4900 block of South Chesterfield Road by around 5:00 a.m.
Officers and K-9 units were called to the scene and conducted a sweep of the building to make sure no one else made it inside.
Sternbeck confirms a similar incident occurred at the school just last week. That break-in resulted in a significant destruction of property and vandalism.
All eight suspects are in police custody. The investigation is ongoing.
