LONDON (USA TODAY) -- A British Airways passenger plane has made an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, prompting the closure of both runways, the airport said on Friday.
Early reports suggest all passengers from the plane have been safely evacuated and no one has been injured.
It is not thought to be a terrorist-related incident. One unconfirmed theory is that the plane's engines were struck by a bird.
Some eyewitnesses reported seeing flames from the plane as it flew over London, according to Sky News.
The southern runway re-opened for traffic shortly afterward.
