WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- With the United States 2012 elections rapidly approaching, many Americans are wondering which politicians will be able to capture the hearts and minds of the public and, in turn, pull out victories in November.
But while President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney might be the biggest names involved in the winter battles, one New York state senatorial candidate is making some serious headlines.
Meet Mindy Meyer, a 22-year-old Orthodox Jew who is running on the Republican and Conservative tickets in New York's 21st District election in Brooklyn. She will try to take down the incumbent, Democrat Kevin Parker.
Meyer, a resident of Flatbush, apparently has an affinity for pink, as her entire site, "MindyMeyer4Senate.com" is completely plastered in the color.
Meyer's slogan, tatted across the top of her site in flashing diamond-like text, is "I'm Senator and I Know It" a clear reference to LMFAO's club-banger "I'm Sexy and I Know It".
"Mindy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Touro College. She is currently working for a real-estate attorney in Flatbush and attending the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in Central Islip, New York in the evening," Her site's "Meet Mindy" section explains. "Mindy intends to use her law degree as a segue into the political arena."

"I am looking forward to accomplishing for the 21st District that which the incumbent has not done for over ten years," Meyer says on the site. "I am excited by the prospect of employing new programs in our district to make a real difference in the lives of the people who matter most, the individuals of our community."
There are definitely a variety of views on Meyer's decision to run for office.
My thoughts? I guess you can't knock the hustle.
