WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Three hundred fifty economists are giving the President a piece of their mind. They've signed a letter urging the White House to nominate Federal Reserve Vice Chair Janet Yellen to be the next chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Current Fed boss Ben Bernanke is done at the end of January.

The letter to the President suggests that Yellin is the most qualified candidate to lead the central bank. President Obama is said to be leaning toward his former economic adviser, Larry Summers, a more controversial choice.
