WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)--There are plenty of ways to watch 9News and your favorite TV shows right here on WUSA9.  Your television. A computer.  And soon on one of your digital mobile devices.

On Thursday 9 News anchor Derek McGinty was honored to emcee the official launch of some pretty amazing new technology down on Capitol Hill. It's broadcast television for your cell phone or tablet. It's called the mobile DTV.  Brought to you by the Open Mobile Video Coalition, which includes broadcasters and technology types.

But what does all that mean to you?

It looks just like your TV.  Sounds like it too.  But can you take your 40-inch anywhere you want, any time?

"What you have here is basically the future," says Erik Moreno, Co-General Manager of Dyle TV.  They make the app that makes TV mobile.  That means live news, emergency information, primetime dramas.  Whatever you like to watch at home, now you can get it while on the move.

Now video on your phone is certainly not new.  The difference here, its over-the-air, like your television.  Your free television.

"It does not require 3G, 4G or Wifi," says Moreno.  "So a consumer is not going to get a data bill if they enjoy their television."

"Wow this is great. I love it," says one person in upper northwest DC when shown the device. "And one of my favorite shows is on right now. The Talk."

Now you have to note a couple of things:  First the accessory to make your phone or tablet act like a television will cost about $100  But as of now, that's all you pay.

Moreno tells 9 NEWS you can't buy it just yet. But they expect it to be in stores by Black Friday.  Happy Holidays!!!
