WASHINGTON DC (WUSA) -- You can't miss them when you go to the grocery stores. Celebrities. And we're not talking just on the magazine racks. We're talking on the shelves. Products from Celebrity chefs.
But does the product itself deserve the extra price, 2 to 3 times the garden-variety sauce? You'll see products out there from the likes of Giada, Mario Batali, Lidia, actor Paul Sorvino, director Francis Ford Copolla, and brands coming out form famous restaurants like Rao's and Vincent's out of New York.
Consumer Reports did some taste testing, so you don't have to waste your money. Here are some of the results.
Excellent awards were given to two sauces: Giada De Laurentiis' Tomato Basil at $3 a bottle, a Consumer Reports Best Buy. Testers also thought Mario Batali's Marinara was excellent.
The Very Good Winners were Vincent's Marinara, Rao's Homemade Marinara, The Silver Palate Marinara, Lidia's Marinara and Paul Sorvino Foods Marinara.
