NEW YORK (WUSA9) -- Tony Awards nominations were announced by Tony-winner Sutton Foster and "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson on Tuesday morning. Cyndi Lauper's "Kinky Boots" received the most nominations.

The nominees for Leading Actor in a Play are  Tom Hanks for 'Lucky Guy Play," Nathan Lane  for "The Nance," Tracy Letts for "Who Is Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?," David Hyde Pierce for "Vanya and Sonia" and Tom Sturridge for "Orphans on Broadway."

The nominees for Leading Actress in a Play are Laurie Metcalf for "The Other Place", Amy Morton for "Who Is Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?," Kristine Nielsen for "Vanya and Sonia," Holland Taylor for "Ann" and Cicely Tyson for "Bountiful Broadway."

The nominees for Leading Actor in a Musical are Bertie Carvel for "Matilda," Santino Fontana for "Cinderella," Rob McClure for "Chaplin," BillyPorter for "Kinky Boots" and Stark Sands for "Kinky Boots."

The nominees for Leading Actress in a Musical are Stephanie J Block for "The Mystery Of Edwin Drood," Carolee Carmello for "Scandalous,"  Valisia LeKae for "Motown: The Musical," Patina Miller for " Pippin" and Laura Osnes for "Cinderella."

The nominees for Best Revival of a Play are LC Theater's "Golden Boy", "Orphans on Broadway."  "Bountiful" and "Who Is Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?"

The nominees for Revival of a Musical are "Annie," "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," "Pippin" and "Cinderella."
