WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- I think that eBay, like Craigslist, is a simply fascinating place.  The sites shine spotlights on topics, requests, and desires that I don't often see in my day-to-day life.  They are deep, dark jungles filled with the bizarre, jungles that could only exist on the World Wide Web...and I just can't get enough of them.

Now I've seen a lot of weird postings on eBay, but the one I saw this morning might take the cake: A man wants someone to pay him $5,000 to tattoo any item on his body.

Let that soak in for a moment.

"This bid is for advertising anything you want on one of my legs or arms with a tattoo. The tattoo can be up to 5 inches by 3 inches," The eBay ad reads.  "You can choose from a company name, company logo, or website. The bid will include a tattoo at a local shop up to $300. (NO ADULT WEBSITES OR PROFANITY). I will wear it for the rest of my life. Just for the record, I am NOT a tattoo guy and have no tattoos anywhere on my body."

Wow...just wow.  Glad he cleared up the fact he's not a tattoo guy.

Now, in fairness, the man writes in his ad that he worked at the same company for more than twenty years before a larger company bought them out and he lost his job.  He writes that he wants to use the money he can potentially earn with this tattoo to start his own business.  In that sense, I think we can all feel for this guy.

On the flip side, I don't know about his unconventional money-making methods. To each their own, though.

You can see the full ad here.

Here's hoping he finds a taker and they make a tasteful, appropriate tat selection.
