WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Smithsonian National Zoo Officials say they have determined the sex of a 3-month-old sloth bear cub, and it's a boy.

Keepers say that the sloth bear cub recently started to climb the mesh fence in his enclosure and be a little daring, but his mom keeps an eye on him in case he climbs too high for her liking.

You can see the activity of the two sloth bears and the cub's progress by watching him on the Zoo's live webcam.

Zoo Officials say the cub's first veterinary exam is planned in the next few weeks and the family's public debut will take place later this summer.
