WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- After much speculation about whether or not the eighth season of "How I Met Your Mother" would its final season CBS finally puts rumors to bed by announcing that the sitcom has been renewed for a ninth and final season.
Online rumors stirred some doubt as to whether not series regular Jason Segal would renew his contract to come back for another season, but the Washington Post reports that all five series regulars Jason Segal, Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan are all set to appear next season.
Sitcom creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas along with director Pam Fryman will also return with the cast to bring the show to it's conclusion and finally after eight years reveal who the mother is.
"How I Met Your Mother" is in the middle of its eighth season and is enjoying its most successful season ever drawing in nearly 10 million viewers. The sitcom airs Mondays on CBS.
