NEW ORLEANS, LA. (WUSA) -- Officials report that more than $13.6 million worth of counterfeit Super Bowl XLVII memorabilia was seized today.
Authorities say they targeted warehouses, stores, flea markets, online vendors and street vendors selling counterfeit game-related sportswear and tickets throughout the country.
According to officials fake jerseys, ball caps, T-shirts, jackets and other souvenirs and tickets throughout the country were confiscated.
The counterfeit operations extend online and officials identify a total of 313 websites as being responsible for selling counterfeit merchandise.
Due to increased counterfeit activities all around the world officials say that "Operation Red Zone' was implemented last September in order to decrease the number of counterfeiting operations. These efforts will continue on after the Super Bowl XVLII game day through Feb. 6.
