(WUSA) -- Washington Animal Rescue League has a new pet of the week and with his short-haired head and long-haired body, Rock n Pop has a look all his own.
WARL says the three-year-old Chihuahua arrived at the Washington Animal Rescue League in late August. He was one of 265 dogs rescued from an Ohio puppy mill where they lived in cramped wire cages and pens, covered in their own waste and without access to veterinary care or proper socialization.
Many of the dogs suffered from skin irritations, eye infections and severe flea infestations. But thanks to the dedicated efforts of the League's veterinary and behavioral staffs, these brave little survivors are putting their past behind them.
Rock n Pop is still timid but obviously wants to interact: he stands on his hind legs and waves his front paws when people walk by his den. Once he gets your attention, he'll give gentle licks in return for soothing scratching and petting.
After all he's been through, Rock n Pop deserves to start a new life in a quiet, patient, loving adult home of his own...could that be yours?
