ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Rep. Steny Hoyer and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller are endorsing Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in his run for governor of Maryland.
Hoyer, the second-ranking Democratic leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, announced his endorsement along with the Senate president at an event in Waldorf on Monday, with another scheduled for Greenbelt.
Hoyer says he's proud to be partner with Brown to improve the state's economy and create jobs. He also commended Brown for his service as a colonel in the Army reserves.
Miller also noted the lieutenant governor's military service, as well as his focus on working to build a knowledge-based economy by supporting education.
Brown, a Democrat, is from Prince George's County. Both Hoyer and Miller represent districts that include parts of the county.
