Yakima Boyd, 18, has been charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.

DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police have arrested a woman who they say kicked a police officer after her family members were arrested.

Yakima Boyd, 18, has been charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.

On Wednesday at 6:10 a.m., officials responded to a crash in the area of Myrtlewood Drive and Avenel Lane in Dumfries.

The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, identified as 26-year-old Desmond Boyd, was arrested for driving under the influence, officials said.

Police say a passenger of the same vehicle, identified as 37-year-old Karina Boyd, was then arrested for disorderly conduct after trying to get the driver out of a police car, officials said.

As that passenger was being arrested, police say Yakima Boyd exited the same vehicle and approached the officers. She kicked one of the officers and attempted to push past him, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
