FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA9) -- A home in Fairfax County is completely destroyed after a two-alarm fire early Friday morning.

Fire officials responded to a fire at a single-family home, located at 2142 Haycock Road at approximately 3:15 a.m. Friday.

Heavy fire and smoke were coming from the entire roof of the four-story home when firefighters arrived, officials said.

Approximately 60 firefighters were sent to the scene, including Arlington County.

When major portions of the burning roof structure collapsed into the yard, officials say firefighters assumed a defensive posture to fight the fire.

It took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the fire.

Officials say the recently constructed home was for sale. No one was inside at the time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
