WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9)  - Police have charged a driver in crash that killed a woman on Saturday morning at Old Bridge Rd and Clipper Dr in Woodbridge.

Police say the 21-year-old driver of a 1998 BMW 328i was traveling eastbound on Old Bridge Rd when he lost control of the vehicle and struck 58-year-old Zenaida Ines Jimenez, who was walking her dog on the sidewalk.

Jimenez was transported to a hospital where she died a short time later, according to police. The dog was not injured and was released to family members, say police.

Police say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Wednesday, police said the driver, 21-year-old Mohamed-Kareem Mohamed of Woodbridge was charged with reckless driving and insufficient tire tread depth. They say their investigation revealed that Mohamed was driving his car with insufficient tire tread which caused the vehicle to lose control on wet pavement and crash.

Mohamed will appear in court in December, say police.
