ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- On Tuesday, representatives with the Marine Corps Marathon released the course for Oct. 27 in Arlington and DC.

You can see the interactive course map here: The new interactive course map is available at www.marinemarathon.com

Runners will notice that the course is flatter. Representatives say runners will now travel north on Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway to Beach Drive before going back along the Parkway on relatively flat roads. Additionally, marathon runners will travel along M Street in Georgetown for the first time since 2006 before going on to Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway.

The route to the U.S. Capitol has also been adjusted: participants will now run on 3rd Street to Constitution, then directly in front of the Capitol along 1st Street. Runners will then head onto Maryland avenue and back onto 3rd Street to catch a glimpse of other landmarks.

October makrs the 38th year of the Marine Corps Marathon.
