UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9)  -- The passenger in the car pursued by Officer Adrian Morris when he was killed in August 2012 pleaded guilty Friday morning to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks.

Alsobrooks said in a statement, "Hopefully this will bring some peace to Officer Morris' family."

Mitchell was sentenced to time served, approximately 14 months, but it is unclear if he will be released at this time, according to Alsobrooks. Mitchell has an outstanding warrant in Montgomery County and may be transferred there to face those charges, says Alsobrooks.

Authorities say Mitchell and Kevon Neal were being pursued by Prince George's County Police Officer Adrian Morris after they attempted to break into a vehicle at a Shell gas station in Laurel. Morris and his police partner followed vehicle onto I-95, and sometime during the pursuit Morris lost control of his vehicle. He was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. Morris died from severe head trauma.

Neal faces a manslaughter charge. He is expected to go on trial in January 2014.
