SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man was charged with obstruction of justice after his wife was found dead in a home in Springfield on Wednesday night.
Police say they responded to a report of shots fired at a home in the 7100 block of Healy Drive at 6 p.m. No one answered the door so officers made several phone calls to the home.
Police then summoned additional personnel and resources and entered the home at approximately 9 p.m., say officials. They found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound. She was identified as 41-year-old Serena Hansken-Vierimaa, say police officials.
Officers found that a man was also inside the home. Police say he did not initially come out of the home but eventually did.
Forty-one-year-old Aaron Vierimaa was not injured. Police say he was charged with obstruction of justice.
