FRONT ROYAL, Va. (WUSA9) -- A bald eagle injured last October by a car on Interstate 66 in Virginia was released into the wild on Wednesday.

The eagle suffered two broken wings and other injuries, according to Steve Mohr, who sent us photos from the release on Wednesday. Mohr says the eagle spent 12 weeks in rehab at the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center.

According to Mohr, the eagle was supposed to be released at Low Water Bridge on Sunday but the release was rescheduled due to rain.

Mohr estimates approximately 300 people were at the event.
