SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- A police officer was able to save the life of a 9-day-old baby boy on Monday.

Officer Ben Crumlin noticed a vehicle which was travelling at a high rate of speed on Randolph Road. When the vehicle approached the officers vehicle, the occupants started to honk the horn. They were on their way to the hospital and the infant was having trouble breathing. When the officer checked the baby boy, he was not breathing at all, officials said.

Officer Crumlin administered CPR on the infant and was able to revive the baby. Since, the baby boy was still having trouble breathing, he was taken to the local hospital, and was released later in the morning, police said.

Commander Don Johnson, of the 3rd District, "Officer Crumlin's training and experience and his ability to act quickly made a difference in this child's life."
