WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- This Halloween has proven to be a violent one in DC, where two men were shot during the overnight hours. One of the victims has died at the hospital.
Metropolitan Police first responded to a report of the sound of gunshots in the 500 block of Mellon Street just after midnight. Once officers arrived on scene they found a man inside a vehicle who had been shot in the head. He was taken to a local hospital where his condition has since stabilized.
MPD officials say they are looking for a group of 6 to 7 male suspects they believe were involved in the incident. No detailed descriptions of the suspects have been released.
A couple hours later police responded to another report of gunshots, this time in the 400 block of Shepard Street. That is where they found a man who had been shot in the chest. The victim was unconscious when he was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Right now police have no information to release on possible motive or suspects in the fatal shooting.
