WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Heads up if you buy prescription drugs or even your pets drugs online.
There is a widespread scam and the Drug Enforcement Agency wants you to watch out for it. DEA investigators say the scam artists are calling people pretending to be federal agents.
They might accuse you of purchasing your drugs illegally if you bought them on the web or over the phone. Next they convince you it all can be fixed if you wire money to off-shore accounts.
The DEA says that people in Bethesda have reported being victimized and we all need to be on alert. If you receive one of these calls you are asked to call the DEA or report it on their website immediately.
