WALDORF, Md. (WUSA9) -- A mother and her children were arrested recently for shoplifiting and possession of marijuana, according to Charles County Sheriff's Office authorities.
At 6:54 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Mall Circle for the report of three people shoplifting. According to a caller, the store security officer had caught one person but the other suspects had fled in a white Chevrolet Impala.
Officers saw the two other suspects nearby and stopped them, say authorities. The officers later discovered the people had $509 worth of stolen merchandise, a small amount of marijuana, and $1,000 in cash with them.
Authorities say a check of their identities revealed they were a mother, son and daughter from Georgia.
Forty-five-year-old Fern Woodfork, her son, 27-year-old Brian Joseph Lee, and her 17-year-old daughter were charged with theft. Authorities say Woodfork had an open warrant from Montgomery County for felony theft.
