(WUSA9) -- Metro spokesperson Dan Stessel says a piece of track equipment made contact with a passing Blue Line train early Thursday morning.
At approximately 12:38 a.m., a movable arm from a piece of track equipment bumped the exterior of a passing Blue Line train on an adjacent track near Potomac Yard, according to Stessel.
There were no injuries and no damage, and the train continued its trip to Franconia-Springfield, says Stessel.
Passengers experienced about a 40-minute delay as a result of safety inspections, according to Stessel. Stessel tells us the work crew was conducting tie replacement work, which was immediately suspended. The crew was taken out of service.
Stessel says Thursday morning's Blue Line delays have nothing to do with the incident.
