ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WUSA9) -- An Ellicott City man is accused of inappropriately touching a teenage girl after breaking into her home while she was sleeping, say police.
Howard County police charged 19-year-old Alan Jaramillo-Jimenez of Ellicott city with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary; theft; fourth-degree sex offense; second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property.
Jaramillo-Jimenez is accused of cutting the screen on a window to an apartment in the 8700 block of Town Country Boulevard on Sept. 21. Police say he got into the home shortly before 5:15 a.m. and approached a teen girl who was sleeping on the couch. According to police he then "touched her inappropriately over her clothing." The girl woke up and Jaramillo-Jimenez fled, say police.
Police say a laptop and cell phone were reported stolen.
Police identified Jaramillo-Jimenez as the suspect after the girl's mother said she a stranger had approached her on her porch at approximately 2:30 a.m., asking for a cigarette. Police say the mother reported that she gave him one, then went inside and closed and locked the door. According to police, the mother was able to provide a detailed description of the man to police and then officers were able to identify him as Jaramillo-Jimenez.
When a search warrant was executed at Jaramillo-Jimenez's home, police say they found the stolen cell phone and laptop.
Police tell us Jaramillo-Jimenez is being held on $175,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
