WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- If there is any real debate over gun control going on in the aftermath of the Navy Yard shootings, Its hard to see anyone beating the gun rights advocates who seem to have the passion, the money and the political will on their side.
But the least they could do is fight fair.
Because No matter how insane the carnage left behind by a nutjob with a rifle, gun rights advocates will inevitably tell you the guns are not the problem.
That is ridiculous, because of course guns or access to them is part of the problem. Sure the other part is the poor disturbed soul doing the shooting. So, its not just a firearms issue but no gun, no carnage.
Now some will argue if someone really wants to kill people he'll use something else to do it. What exactly would that be? Guns are the poor man's weapon of mass destruction. You don't need to go on the Internet to learn how to build one and just owning one is completely legal.
Not to mention there's plenty of places around to practice up your skills. Now the 2nd amendment says you've got the right to your guns and believe me, I'm not hating you for that. Do your thing.
But let's be real, the price of nearly unfettered access to firearms is that every so often, a really sad disturbed murderous person is going to show up with one or two of them. So, just admit it, that's a price you're willing to pay.
