(WUSA9) -- Metro tells WUSA*9 that at about 1:55 a.m.Friday a "tie crane," which is a light piece of maintenance equipment used to replace rail ties, derailed at a low rate of speed on the Red Line between the Brentwood Yard and the Rhode Island Avenue station.

There were no injuries and there was no impact to service, say Metro officials.

The crane was re-railed in under 20 minutes, according to Metro.

The Metro derailment happened on the inbound track, or track #2; last week's train derailment happened on track #1, or the outbound track, so Metro does not consider these two incidents to be related.
