MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Police say an officer was injured on Thursday morning when her cruiser left the road and struck a tree.

Police say they were notified at approximately the 9:53 a.m. about the crash at Montgomery Village Avenue and Stedwick Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the four-year Montgomery County Police officer was responding to a priority call for domestic violence in her marked car with its emergency equipment activated, say police.

Investigators are looking into that possibility that a vehicle failed to yield to the police cruiser before it left the road and hit a tree. Police say no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The officer was conscious and talking when she was taken to a local hospital, say police.

There are no charges at this time.
