WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Two children die every week from something we do several times a day.

We turn on our cars, check the rear view mirror and shift in reverse, but because of a blind spot some people back up over a child they cannot see.

The consumer group Kids and Cars testified about it before Congress on Thursday, pleading with them to push the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to finally rule on when automakers are going to be required to install backup cameras in all cars.

Kids and Cars says these delays have contributed to the deaths of about 1,100 children.
