WASHINGTON (WUSA9/AP) - The Associated Press and WNEW reported Monday night that a top aide to congresswoman Michele Bachmann was arrested and charged with thefts that occurred in a House office building.
DC Superior Court records confirm that Javier Sanchez was arrested and charged last week. Sanchez has been charged with theft of money or goods less than $1,000 in value.
Sanchez was a senior legislative assistant to Bachmann, a Minnesota Republican. Her office is in the Rayburn office building, where police say the thefts took place.
Bachmann spokesman Dan Kotman told the Associated Press that Sanchez was no longer with the office as of Friday.
