WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --   In the new book Capitol Hell, Jayne Jones and Alicia Long retell some of their adventures from the United States Senate.

Alicia Long talked to us about the book, which is up for a couple of awards.  "I think up for a total of six right now," said Long.

The book is somewhat autobiographical. Long explained, "We did spend a lot of time on the Hill. After spending the time there, we decided we had too many stories to tell and we had to share them so ... we decided to put them into this one little book called 'Capitol Hell.' It's just a funny lighthearted view of what it's like working in the U.S. Senate."

In the book, a small town girl learns how "the sausage is made" in the nation's capital.

"Allison is one of the main characters in the book along with Janet and they kind of don't know what goes on here in Washington, D.C. and so the book, you know, gives a little glimpse and you start to realize that they're not asked to do just regular things. They're asked to maybe do the boss' laundry and maybe pick up some lingerie for the boss' wife. Things that you wouldn't be expected to do," said Long.

As far as whether any characters resemble some famous politicians we may know, Long said, "You might recognize some characters although we don't name names, but maybe some personality traits...but that's part of the fun of the book too -- who you think is true."
